Starling on black

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about the Common Starling. Their wintertime murmurations are one of nature’s most amazing spectacles, but to a lot of people they are a pest that cause huge damage to crops. But let’s set those issues aside with this portrait and just marvel at this bird itself. I always think of the starling as cloaking it’s true beauty as it can just seem like a plain brown or black bird with muted plumage but actually it’s an iridescent dazzler when the sun catches the colours in their plumage just right, revealing, purples and greens edged with gold.
